Drinking Water Sample Collection for Lead and Copper
- Tap water should stand motionless in the plumbing for a minimum of six
hours before the samples are collected. It may be most convenient to
collect the samples in the morning.
- Collect samples from the cold water tap in either the kitchen or
bathroom.
- Fill the sample bottle (1 liter plastic) right to the neck.
- Complete the chain of custody form with the sampler’s signature, date
and time of sample collection, and sample location.
- Samples must be returned to the laboratory within 14 days of sample
collection.
